Job summary

The University of Auckland seeks a Research Engagement Manager - Māori to join Te Puna Tiketike | Research and Innovation Office, coordinating engagement with iwi, hapū, Māori organisations and communities to align priorities with university research strengths.

Based at City Campus in a permanent full-time role, you will lead strategic engagement, broker partnerships and support co-designed research across Signature Research Areas.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years in research engagement, knowledge mobilisation, science communication or related partnerships.
• Experience engaging with Māori communities, iwi and hapū; applying kaupapa Māori principles.
• Strong ability to build and sustain trusted relationships across diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist advice on Māori research engagement strategy and co-design practice grounded in kaupapa Māori.
• Develop and coordinate engagement plans reflecting iwi/hapū priorities aligned to strategic objectives.
• Build and steward long-term relationships with iwi, Māori organisations, funders, industry and partners.
• Act as strategic broker connecting Māori partners with university expertise and innovation capability.
• Convene and facilitate co-design processes (hui, wānanga) with Māori communities and researchers.
• Collaborate with Marketing and Communications to align outreach with partnership strategies.
