Oji Fibre Solutions Paper Bag is one of New Zealand's leading manufacturers and suppliers of packaging solutions to a wide range of industries throughout the country and internationally. We design and manufacture multi-wall bags for the Dairy, Cement, Flour and Sugar industries throughout the country and into offshore markets.

This newly created role is based at Paper Bag facility in Penrose. Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager and working across our Manufacturing teams, you will be a methodical, results-driven person who can demonstrate fine-tuned analytical skills and experience within a highly automated production environment. You are also passionate about building cross-team relationships and can engage at all levels, from the factory floor to the boardroom.

We want your expertise in process optimisation, capability analysis, root-cause investigation, and technical guidance. Ultimately, this role is about problem solving, continuous improvement and championing world class manufacturing principles to increase throughput, quality, and service delivery. You will be responsible for the following:

  • Identification and delivery of process improvement activity across our production areas through the employment of best practice methodologies, sound data analysis, and the application of critical thinking
  • Finding ways to reduce waste/rework, improve quality performance, and ensure accuracy of measurement and reporting metrics
  • Leading root-cause investigation and provide technical guidance on manufacturing process or quality related issues
  • The refinement of our process specification databases and raw material recipes
  • Leading the implementation of process improvement trials and/or projects
  • Working with key manufacturing, technical and engineering stakeholders across the facility and within our supply chain, to challenge assumptions and champion continuous improvement
  • To offer technical advice, knowledge transfer and training programmes where appropriate

You will have the following:

  • A successful track record of continuous improvement in a modern high-speed manufacturing environment and working across a broad range of industrial processes
  • Process control experience with steam, pneumatics, hydraulics, servo, PLC, or robotic systems
  • Formal training in Six Sigma lean concepts, methodology and OEE advantageous
  • An applicable tertiary qualification (NCZE, BE or BSC) with associated experience
  • Superb report and technical writing skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a demonstrable focus on customer service
  • An ability to successfully manage and co-ordinate multiple projects at once
  • Highly computer literate in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • RCA best practice knowledge
