Job description

Make a real difference in your community

Are you passionate about community wellbeing and looking for a role where no two days are the same?

We're seeking a Manager to lead our vibrant community centres in the Strathmore Park suburb.

This is a rewarding opportunity to shape the future of two thriving community centres that serve the heart of our local area. You'll work closely with our supportive board, dedicated staff, and amazing volunteers to deliver programmes and services to strengthen the community.

The role is broad and covers everything from strategic planning, day-to-day operations, to chatting to community members who drop into the centres. This is a full-time role, but we are open to a 32-hour a week role for experienced candidates.

The Manager needs to spend a considerable proportion of their time at the centres, but within the operational requirements we support flexibility and some remote working. The Manager will need to attend some events outside of office hours.

What we're looking for

Given the role’s breadth we’re not expecting you to be an expert in every area from day one. But we’re looking for someone with:

  • Management and leadership experience

  • Understanding of budgets and basic financial management

  • Community development experience

  • Experience with developing and reporting on funding applications

  • Confident with digital tools, including everyday office applications, social media and website administration.

Personal attributes:

  • Genuine passion for community development and social impact

  • Cultural sensitivity and respect for diversity

  • Demonstrated commitment to honouring Te Tiriti o Waitangi

  • Adaptable and comfortable with variety

  • Collaborative team player with integrity

  • Initiative and problem-solving mindset

This role suits someone with a broad background and diverse skills who can turn their hand to nearly anything. You’ll thrive on variety, enjoy building relationships and appreciate the uniqueness of this role.

If you’re someone that has the skills and personal attributes we need, and you understand the importance of - and care deeply about - the importance of strong and inclusive communities, we’d love to hear from you!
