The Crown Response Office plays an important strategic, advisory and coordination role to ensure the Crown is joined up and focused on the right priorities.

We currently have a newly created fixed term or secondment opportunity until 30 June 2026 for a Manager - Redress Programme reporting to the General Manager Redress System Strategy.

The Manager, Redress Programme will provide strategic leadership support to the General Manager Redress System Strategy and is responsible for overseeing the Redress programme, ensuring its workstreams are aligned, prioritised, and delivered effectively, to the agreed quality standards, on time and within budget.

This role leads a team of Principal and Senior Advisors focused on the Redress programme. It provides direction and support as the team develops Redress programme plans, operational policies and tools, and prepares advice for Ministers and Senior Leaders.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the General Manager Redress System with strategic leadership and programme oversight.
  • Leading planning, prioritisation, and delivery of the Redress programme and its workstreams.
  • Managing programme performance, reporting, risks, and issues to ensure successful delivery.
  • Providing leadership and guidance to a team of analysts, fostering high performance and accountability.
  • Working collaboratively with internal teams and agencies to develop plans, policies, and tools.
  • Ensuring alignment with Crown priorities and maintaining high programme standards.
  • Applying understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and tikanga Māori in a public sector context.

You will bring:

  • Proven experience in public sector programme and project management, with a track record of delivering complex, multi-stream programmes.
  • Strong understanding and proven application of project management methodologies (e.g., PRINCE2, MSP, Agile) and tools.
  • Strong understanding of the machinery of government and public sector accountability processes.
  • Proven leadership and people management capability, including mentoring and performance development.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage risks, issues, and changes effectively in complex delivery environments.
  • Excellent communication, reporting, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships and influence at all levels.
  • Knowledge of te ao Maori , tikanga and kawa and/or be open to developing a sound understanding of the implications of Te Tiriti on today's society and public service.

This is a fixed term or secondment opportunity to 30 June 2026.
