Are you a strategic finance leader ready to shape the future of public sector financial planning? The Department of Internal Affairs Te Tari Taiwhenua (DIA) is seeking a Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis to lead enterprise-wide financial planning, budgeting, and performance analysis.

This influential role reports to the Director of Strategic Finance and Planning and leads a high-performing team that delivers robust financial strategies, insights, and systems to support effective decision-making across the Department. You’ll be at the centre of strategic planning, working closely with senior leaders and external stakeholders to ensure financial sustainability and alignment with organisational goals.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Proven experience leading high-performing finance teams in complex environments
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with a focus on capability building, team engagement and continuous improvement
  • Expertise in financial strategy, performance monitoring, data analytics and long-term planning
  • Ability to influence and collaborate with senior leaders, governance committees, and external stakeholders including The Treasury
  • CAANZ Chartered Accountant qualification (or equivalent), with evidence of continuous professional development
  • Deep understanding of public sector financial frameworks, including the Public Finance Act, Public Service Act, and NZ GAAP
  • Legal right to live and work in New Zealand
