Job summary

Woolworths Group in Canterbury, New Zealand, seeks an Operations/Store Leadership professional to oversee daily store routines, manage stock, and lead teams to deliver high standards. You will mentor staff, ensure safety and compliance, and step in as Acting Store Manager on scheduled shifts.

The role offers collaboration across teams, opportunities to influence store performance, and a dynamic, customer-focused work environment within a large nationwide retailer.

Qualifications

• Leadership experience in a team setting with a focus on coaching and development.
• Strong focus on process improvement and daily operational discipline.
• Ability to build and sustain cross-functional partnerships.
• Good understanding of compliance and safety standards in a store/retail environment.
• Availability for weekend shifts (four per month) and at least one evening per week.

Responsibilities

• Execute operations & stock management to ensure timely, accurate routines.
• Lead and develop team members, promoting a safe and healthy work environment.
• Maintain store standards, ensure correct packaging, and manage overstocks.
• Proactively escalate process issues to the Function Lead for resolution.
• Step in as Acting Store Manager on shifts and support leadership initiatives.

• Execute Operations & Stock Management: Ensure accurate and timely completion of routines, leading the "swarm" to correctly handle tasks, and overseeing all teams to fill shelves and manage deliveries according to standards.
• Team Leadership & Development: Lead on-job training and coaching for team members, and champion a safe and healthy work environment.
• Maintain Store Standards: Ensure the evening team are filling to correct standards, prioritize shelf-friendly packaging, and manage overstocks effectively.
• Resolve Issues Proactively: Timely elevate process-related issues to the Function Lead for resolution.
• Contribute to Store Leadership: Step up as Acting Store Manager on scheduled shifts and actively participate in "Better Together" connections to foster team collaboration.
