Job summary

Christchurch Engine Centre is seeking a Maintenance Tradesperson to provide facilities and maintenance support across all operations, based in Christchurch. This full-time permanent role involves ensuring safe, efficient operation of plant, equipment and site facilities.

The ideal candidate holds a NZ Level 4 National Certificate in Mechanical, has experience in facilities, plant and equipment maintenance, and demonstrates strong communication and teamwork.

Qualifications

• NZ Level 4 National Certificate in Mechanical and capable of undertaking a broad range of maintenance tasks.
• Relevant work experience in facilities, plant, and equipment maintenance.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Self-motivated and proactive in workload management.
• Able to work independently and in a team.
• Experience with permit-to-work, LOTO and working at heights.

Responsibilities

• Perform general fitting, repair and maintenance activities.
• Coordinate and oversee contractors working on site.
• Maintain equipment, plant, buildings and infrastructure.
• Support site housekeeping and maintain a safe working environment.
• Manage permit-to-work activities, including confined space entry and LOTO processes.
• Carry out equipment inspections and ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Conduct electrical testing in accordance with NZS 3760 requirements.

About the role

Christchurch Engine Centre is seeking a skilled and motivated Maintenance Tradesperson to provide facilities and maintenance support across all business operations. This is a hands-on role that involves ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of plant, equipment, and site facilities. This is a full-time permanent position, based in Christchurch.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform general fitting, repair, and maintenance activities
• Coordinate and oversee contractors working on site
• Maintain equipment, plant, buildings, and associated infrastructure
• Support site housekeeping and maintain a safe working environment
• Manage permit-to-work activities, including confined space entry and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) processes
• Carry out equipment inspections and ensure compliance with safety standards
• Conduct electrical testing in accordance with NZS 3760 requirements

About You

• Hold a NZ Level 4 National Certificate in Mechanical and be capable of undertaking a broad range of maintenance tasks
• Relevant work experience in facilities, plant, and equipment maintenance
• Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Be self-motivated, organised, and proactive in managing workloads and priorities
• Work effectively both independently and as part of a team
• Have practical experience in maintenance, electrical testing, permit-to-work systems, and working at heights
• Maintain a positive, can-do attitude and a strong focus on continuous improvement
