The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to join our Operations team in the Wellington Region. This role is responsible for ensuring our Treatment Plants and processes operate efficiently through skilled maintenance activities.

Responsibilities
Maintenance Operations
  • Implement preventative maintenance for all plant equipment
  • Perform corrective maintenance and emergency repairs
  • Monitor and optimize mechanical equipment performance
  • Operate workshop equipment such as lathes, mills, drills, and welders
  • Conduct regular inspections and condition monitoring
Contractor Management
  • Supervise and coordinate external contractors
  • Provide site inductions and safety briefings
  • Review and approve contractor work
  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures
Compliance & Safety
  • Maintain relevant trade qualifications and certifications
  • Implement health and safety procedures
  • Contribute to environmental management systems
  • Ensure regulatory compliance in maintenance activities
Operational Support
  • Participate in on-call duty roster
  • Prepare maintenance reports
  • Manage spare parts inventory
  • Support team development
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications and Experience
  • Trade qualification in Mechanical Engineering
  • At least 3 years of industrial maintenance experience
  • Experience with preventative maintenance programs
  • Computer literacy (CMMS, Microsoft Office)
  • Valid driver's license
Desirable Skills
  • Experience in water/wastewater treatment
  • Knowledge of process control systems
  • Welding certifications
  • Experience with condition monitoring techniques
  • Project management skills
