Job summary

Danone in Balclutha, South Otago, NZ, is seeking a Maintenance Technician to own maintenance tasks, train staff, manage spare parts, and support project work to enhance plant capability. Reporting to the Technical Lead, you’ll help maximise production quality and ensure safety and compliance.

The role involves a rotating shift pattern (2 days, 2 nights, 4 off) totaling 42 hours per week, with a focus on reliability and efficient operations at our NZ spray-drying facility.

Qualifications

• Trade certificate, advanced preferred.
• Minimum 5 years in FMCG sector.
• Strong fault-finding and ability to work without supervision.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills; team player.
• Technical knowledge: pneumatics, PLC, bearings, instrumentation, pumps, valves, steam; basic computer skills.
• Ability to draft sketches/drawings for plant improvements/repairs.
• CMMS knowledge; SAP preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance.
• Keep accurate records in CMMS and manage parts bookings.
• Assist Maintenance Planner and Technical Lead with maintenance plan execution.
• Lead troubleshooting and coordinate with contractors for uptime.
• Train production staff in basic maintenance tasks.
• Identify failure modes and review PM plans; support rollout of new tech.
