Job summary

Hermitage in Aoraki/Mt Cook National Park seeks Maintenance team members to support our 250 guest rooms, 150 staff accommodation rooms, and surrounding grounds. The role is varied, fast-paced, with a fun and enthusiastic team in a one-of-a-kind environment.

You will perform general labour across hotel rooms, lodges, staff housing and grounds, operate tools and machinery, and plan to meet deadlines while upholding health and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in general maintenance and labour tasks.
• Able to plan and prioritise jobs to meet deadlines.
• Strong health and safety awareness.
• Full NZ Driver’s license or international equivalent (driving requirement)

Our Maintenance team is a key factor in ensuring guests have a comfortable room to go back to after a day of exploring the unique outdoor environment, or to simply relax in a peaceful and beautiful part of the world.

We are looking for Maintenance team members to help maintain our 250 guest rooms in the Hermitage complex, along with our 150 staff accommodation rooms, as well as the surrounding support building and grounds. This is a varied and fast-paced role with a fun and enthusiastic team, in an environment like no other.

What you will be doing

• General labour and maintenance tasks across our hotel rooms, motels, lodge and staff accommodation.
• Operating and maintaining all tools and machinery as outlined in department SOPs.
• Planning and prioritizing jobs to ensure time limits are met.
• Ensuring a high standard of health, safety and hygiene is maintained.
• General landscaping & gardening.

What you will bring to the role

• In love with the outdoors and adapted to remote living.
• A confident and safe driver, you hold a full clean NZ Driver’s license or international equivalent.
• A can-do attitude and a willingness to learn.
• Friendly, outgoing, and professional, with excellent communication skills.
• Flexible, adaptable, and able to prioritize.
• A strong desire to strive for excellence.

The role and benefits

• Parament, fulltime position: 80 hours plus a fortnight working 7am - 5pm, potentially reducing to 7:30-4:30 over winter
• Hourly rate is $25 - $27 depending on experience.
