Job Description

SPM Malvern is seeking an experienced and motivated maintenance fitter. This position will join the existing trades team on either day or night shift, to help ensure that plant assets are managed and maintained to minimize processing downtime and support the company’s objectives. We require someone with a positive, can-do attitude and excellent teamwork skills.

You should be able to demonstrate the following key requirements:

  • Be a strong team player with excellent communication skills
  • Proactively ensure minimal downtime for production departments due to maintenance issues
  • Strong organizational skills to manage various priorities
  • Effective problem-solving skills
  • Relevant engineering qualifications and/or experience in a manufacturing environment
Qualifications

Applicants must have:

  • A Trade certificate in engineering/maintenance or at least three years of relevant experience as a substitute
  • Welding skills in Tig, Mig, MMAW
  • Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Experience working with automated plant and equipment
  • Experience in a food processing environment is advantageous
  • A proactive approach to routine tasks and strong organizational skills
  • A strong commitment to health and safety standards
  • A desire to succeed

Working 45-55 hours per week depending on experience, with an hourly rate between $35-$40.

Additional Information

We will provide training, so previous experience is not mandatory. To ensure safety, SPM conducts pre-employment medical checks and drug screening. Applicants must be eligible to work in New Zealand.
