The Role

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Blue Sky team as a Maintenance Engineer. In this role you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation of mechanical equipment on-site, performing essential plant repairs, and ensuring ongoing maintenance tasks. Each day brings new challenges, offering opportunities for professional growth and upskilling. We are looking for a proactive Maintenance Engineer who is ideally trade-qualified or nearing completion of their trade, with a strong track record of hands-on mechanical experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Carry out preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and mechanical servicing of plant equipment.
  • Perform breakdown response and root cause analysis.
  • Maintain accurate records using our maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Support plant reliability by identifying areas for mechanical improvement.
  • Uphold high standards of food safety hygiene and health and safety compliance.
  • Assist with planned maintenance activities during the winter shut period.
Skills and Experience:
  • Trade qualification mechanical fitter/maintenance engineer
  • Proven track record working hands on with mechanical plant and machinery.
  • Strong mechanical background and diagnostic/fault finding skills.
  • Familiar with planned maintenance schedules and routine inspections.
  • Versatile mechanical skillset with the ability to perform welding, machining, and maintaining pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Experience with maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Refrigeration and boiler experience would be an advantage.
  • Ability to respond quickly and prioritise tasks under pressure.
  • High standard of health and safety practices.
  • Experience working within primary industries.
  • Adaptable and team oriented, with a flexible approach to shift work and the ability to work additional hours as required to meet operational demands.

  • Complete all assigned H&S training.
  • Report any H&S issues promptly.
  • Lead and model behaviours focussed on ensuring product quality.
  • Actively monitor quality outcomes and act early to address issues.
  • Support plant and systems audits.
  • Bring a continuous improvement mindset to the role, always look for ways to improve what we do and how we do it.
  • Support others in driving improvements.
