Multi-Skilled Engineer (Electrical Bias)

  • Location: Canterbury, CT3
  • Shifts: 28-day continental rotation (14 days on, 14 days off)
  • Hours: 12-hour shifts, 6am–6pm / 6pm–6am
  • Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Day-to-Day of the Role
  • Assist the Engineering Manager in creating a high-performing team aimed at achieving zero breakdowns and eliminating machine setup issues.
  • Undertake planned maintenance tasks autonomously to maximise machinery uptime and minimise disruption to production targets.
  • Support reactive maintenance tasks proactively, liaising with the Engineering Manager to ensure minimal production downtime.
  • Work on electrical installations up to 400V, process safety circuits, and electrical control circuits (PLC & VSD), adhering to health and safety standards.
  • Assist in creating and reviewing risk assessments, SOPs, OPLs, and Preventative Maintenance Schedules.
  • Conduct proactive and effective fault diagnosis using both mechanical and electrical root cause analysis to establish problems and determine solutions.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers, service providers, and department managers.
  • Suggest improvements to embrace a culture of continuous improvement.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Reliable, hard-working, and enthusiastic individual.
  • Experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment, ideally within fresh produce or FMCG.
  • Formal Qualification in Engineering (electrical biased) with significant experience in Electrical and Mechanical.
  • Proven ability to apply engineering knowledge and skills to perform root cause analysis.
  • Fundamental knowledge of PLC Control systems.
  • Good IT skills, capable of producing well-presented documentation and reports.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build relationships across various departments.
