Job summary

Turf Lawn Maintenance Ltd, based in Auckland, is seeking a hands-on excavator operator for drainage and sports turf projects. The role involves operating excavators, trenching, drainage installation, and assisting with landscaping and site preparation.

You will work with ground crew to load and spread materials, maintain equipment, and follow safety procedures to ensure high-quality workmanship across residential and commercial sites.

Qualifications

• Previous experience operating excavators, diggers, or similar earthmoving machinery.
• Experience in drainage, landscaping, earthworks, or civil construction.
• A strong understanding of workplace health and safety.

Responsibilities

• Operate excavators and other earthmoving machinery safely and efficiently.
• Carry out trenching, drainage installation, excavation, and site preparation.
• Assist with landscaping, earthworks, and sports turf construction projects.
• Operate machinery around existing turf, gardens, and finished surfaces with care.
• Load, move, and spread soil, aggregate, sand, and other materials.
• Support ground crew with manual work as required.
• Complete daily machine checks and maintain equipment in good working condition.
• Follow site safety procedures and project instructions.
• Work productively as part of a team to complete projects within agreed timeframes.

About the Role

This is a hands-on role involving the operation of excavators and other machinery across a variety of landscaping, drainage, and sports turf projects.

Your responsibilities may include:

Operating excavators and other earthmoving machinery safely and efficiently.

Carrying out trenching, drainage installation, excavation, and site preparation.

Assisting with landscaping, earthworks, and sports field construction projects.

Operating machinery around existing turf, gardens, and finished surfaces with care.

Loading, moving, and spreading soil, aggregate, sand, and other materials.

Supporting ground crew with manual work when required.

Completing daily machine checks and maintaining equipment in good working condition.

Following site safety procedures and project instructions.

Working productively as part of a team to complete projects within agreed timeframes.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

Previous experience operating excavators, diggers, or similar earthmoving machinery.

Experience in drainage, landscaping, earthworks, or civil construction.

The ability to operate machinery accurately and safely.

A strong understanding of workplace health and safety.

A reliable, positive, and hardworking attitude.

The ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Good communication skills and a commitment to quality workmanship.

A full New Zealand driver's licence, or the ability to travel to work sites, is preferred.

Experience operating machinery around sports turf or finished landscaping areas would be an advantage.
