Machine Operator – Just Avocados

Already an industry leader in avocados, we’re in growth mode with big plans and are looking for an enthusiastic seasonal machine operator to join our successful team packing avocados. Based in Katikati, Bay of Plenty, we aim to provide fresh produce every day.

Your role

During our main avocado export packing season (July to December) and into the local market (January to March), your focus will be on:

1. Setting and monitoring the machine through production.
2. Working closely with the production team to ensure fruit is packed to optimize grower quality and pack outs.
3. Maintaining accurate documentation records to comply with standards.
4. Communicating effectively with stakeholders.
5. Reporting and raising maintenance issues.

Flexibility with extended hours, including weekends and possibly evenings, especially during peak season, is essential as our packhouse operates over 6 days with back-to-back shifts.

About you

1. Previous experience in a similar role, with an understanding of fruit/food processing.
2. Strong attention to detail, planning, and prioritization skills.
3. Excellent verbal English skills to communicate effectively in a diverse environment.
4. Adaptable, solution-oriented, quick to troubleshoot.
5. A team player with a positive and friendly attitude.
6. Physically fit and able to lift 20kg safely.
7. Ability to work under pressure calmly and diplomatically.
