About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and proactive Logistics Fleet Manager to oversee their transportation fleet operations in Queenstown, Eastern Cape. This key role involves managing all aspects of the fleet, including vehicle maintenance, driver management, route optimization, and ensuring compliance with transportation regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fleet operations, excellent leadership skills, and a proven ability to enhance efficiency and reduce operational costs. This position offers a hybrid work model, allowing for flexibility while requiring regular presence in Queenstown for critical oversight. You will be instrumental in maintaining a safe, reliable, and cost-effective fleet that supports the company's logistics network. Key Responsibilities

• Manage the daily operations of the company's vehicle fleet, including scheduling, dispatch, and routing.
• Oversee fleet maintenance programs, ensuring all vehicles are kept in safe and operational condition.
• Recruit, train, and manage a team of professional drivers, ensuring adherence to company policies and safety standards.
• Monitor driver performance, conduct regular reviews, and provide coaching.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant transportation laws, regulations, and safety standards.
• Optimize fleet utilization and fuel efficiency to reduce operational costs.
• Manage relationships with external vendors for vehicle repairs, maintenance, and parts.
• Develop and implement fleet policies and procedures.
• Maintain accurate records of fleet data, including mileage, fuel consumption, maintenance, and driver logs.
• Respond to and manage any fleet-related incidents or emergencies.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in fleet management or a related transportation logistics role.
• Proven experience managing a diverse fleet of commercial vehicles.
• Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance, repair, and preventative maintenance programs.
• Excellent understanding of transportation regulations and safety standards.
• Demonstrated leadership and team management skills.
• Proficiency in fleet management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong financial acumen with the ability to manage budgets and control costs.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience within the Queenstown, Eastern Cape region or similar rural logistics environments is advantageous.
• A relevant qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or Business Administration is preferred.
