Job summary

Tegel Foods Ltd in Auckland seeks a Livestock Advisor on a fixed-term maternity cover to join our local team. The role is autonomous and field-based, focusing on broiler farms to support production targets, bird health, welfare, and biosecurity, with hands-on involvement and strong partner relationships.

You will oversee contractor performance, ensure compliance with quality and safety standards, and contribute to continuous improvement across the poultry supply chain.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of related experience, preferably in poultry farm servicing or farm management.
• Knowledge of relevant legislative and compliance requirements.
• Ability to demonstrate modern farming methods and a commitment to animal welfare.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.

Responsibilities

• Drive improvement in the performance standards for growth, health and welfare of the Farms under your scope.
• Assist in monitoring and improving compliance to quality, safety, environmental, biosecurity and animal welfare standards.
• Liaise with Breeders, Hatchery, Feedmilling and Processing colleagues to advise and find solutions to issues or opportunities identified on farms.
• Lead or assist with projects across the farming network ensuring they are within framework, to budget and outcomes clearly communicated.
• Provide relief management for company-operated farms as needed, including overseeing daily operations.

Livestock Advisor - Auckland Region (Fixed term)

About the role

Are you passionate about animal welfare, production performance, and building strong relationships with farming partners? We're looking for a Livestock Advisor to join our Auckland team on a fixed-term maternity cover contract.

In this autonomous and hands-on role, you'll work closely with our broiler growers to support the achievement of livestock production targets and ensure a reliable supply to our processing operations. You'll play a key role in optimising bird health, welfare, and biosecurity standards while partnering with growers to drive continuous improvement and best-practice farming outcomes.

This includes overseeing contractor performance, ensuring adherence to Tegel's quality and operational standards, managing corrective actions. The Livestock Advisor should be well-versed in maintaining the animal welfare codes of practice.

You must be able to work flexible hours to suit work demands. This role includes a company tool of trade vehicle.
