Job summary

Faction Land Surveying in Christchurch, Canterbury seeks a Licensed Cadastral Surveyor to deliver boundary, topographic and subdivision projects with a collaborative team. You’ll work across field and office, applying cadastral expertise, planning awareness and practical land development knowledge, while mentoring juniors and contributing to workflow improvements.

Qualifications

• Current New Zealand Licensed Cadastral Surveyor status.
• Experience with subdivisions and land development projects.
• Ability to interpret title matters, easements and subdivision requirements.
• Strong communication skills and professional client relationship approach.
• Ability to manage projects independently while collaborating with the team.
• Practical approach to resolving technical and regulatory challenges.
• Willingness to share knowledge and support colleagues.
• Familiarity with modern survey software, field technology and digital workflows.

Responsibilities

• Lead or support boundary, topographic, construction and subdivision projects.
• Prepare and review survey data, calculations, scheme plans and supporting documentation.
• Coordinate field crews and technical staff to keep projects progressing.
• Advise clients on subdivision feasibility, site constraints and development pathways.
• Liaise with councils, planners, engineers, architects, lawyers and other consultants.
• Apply professional judgement to complex surveying matters.
• Provide technical guidance to junior surveyors and technicians.
• Ensure cadastral work meets professional, regulatory and quality standards.
• Contribute to improvements in workflows, technology use and project delivery.
• Depending on experience, prepare or contribute to subdivision resource consent applications.
