Environmental Sciences / Licensed Asbestos Consultant / Team Lead options

We are seeking environmental scientists / asbestos consultant or hazardous materials consultant to join our Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) team in Wellington. As an environmental scientist / asbestos or hazardous materials consultant, you will work on iconic, diverse, multi-disciplinary projects for some of New Zealand’s largest clients, offering pragmatic and cost-effective solutions for asbestos and hazardous materials management and removal projects. We have a very engaged team who thrive on doing excellent work and achieving great results for our communities. Team Leadership may be an option now or in the future.

As part of our team, you will be responsible for:

  • Conducting asbestos and other hazardous materials surveys, removal oversight and clearance inspections, exposure health risk assessments, and the development and implementation of management plans
  • Producing high-quality technical reports
  • Support or lead hazardous materials projects, including project management support, scoping and budgeting for proposals
  • Build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders, providing pragmatic advice and solutions
  • Mentoring and leadership (for senior roles): sharing knowledge, coaching, and developing junior team members, and contributing to building a high-performing team culture.

Our projects take us across New Zealand, so some travel is part of the role. We plan this carefully to maintain a healthy work-life balance and provide support to manage your time effectively. From time to time, there may also be opportunities to work internationally.

About You
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Environmental Sciences
  • Licensed Asbestos Assessor essential
  • Minimum 2 years’ professional experience with asbestos and hazardous materials consulting
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, comfortable liaising with clients
  • Hold a current full New Zealand driver’s license
