Te Tūranga - The Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Legal and Commercial Manager to oversee the commercial contractual aspects of Tait's obligations and responsibilities for the PSN LMR Project (Public Safety Network, Land Mobile Radio). The successful candidate will be responsible for risk management, contract negotiations, and aligning Tait's commercial strategies with the project's objectives. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a high-impact initiative within the public safety communications sector.

This role can be based in either the Christchurch or Auckland office, if based in Auckland there may be occasional travel to Christchurch required.

The duties of the role will include:

  • Providing pragmatic and effective legal advice on contracts, leases, and licenses.
  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, including supplier agreements, statements of work and contract variations.
  • Overseeing legal review of site licenses and leases.
  • Providing legal and commercial advice on site build process
  • Managing legal disputes and claims, as necessary.
  • Attending meetings with key stakeholders to discuss commercial and legal aspects of the project.
  • Liaising with external legal counsel and regulatory authorities.
  • Identifying and mitigating legal and commercial risks.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to align legal strategies with project objectives.

Ō pūkenga - About You

To be successful in this role, you will have a bachelor's degree in law, with extensive experience in commercial and contract law, ideally in-house in an infrastructure, telco or front-end projects environment.

As well as:

  • 10-15 years minimum post-qualification legal experience.
  • Proven senior experience in corporate commercial law and legal management.
  • Strong understanding of business operations and compliance.
  • Experience supporting complex projects involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Preferred experience in commercial and project management.
