Job summary

Ideal candidates will have NZ teaching experience, mentoring student teachers, and familiarity with Te reo Māori, e-Learning pedagogy, and active community involvement. A postgraduate qualification and ongoing research commitment are advantageous.

Qualifications

• Proven excellence in teaching across the primary curriculum at multiple year levels.
• Knowledge of NZ Teaching Council Code and Standards and refreshed NZ curriculum.
• Commitment to mentoring students and providing pastoral care.
• Experience engaging with Māori and Pacific communities using culturally sustaining approaches.
• Experience with e-Learning pedagogies and technologies.
• Active involvement in a local Christian community and in Christian initiatives.

Responsibilities

We have a lecturing opportunity available with our Education team in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland. You will be joining us in an exciting season, as we are experiencing significant enrolment growth across our programmes.

We are looking for a lecturer to join a team who combine a strong sense of mission with the academic mind and educational heart of a Christian college.

Ideal applicants will be people who have recent teaching experience in New Zealand schools or Initial Teacher Education in New Zealand, with experience in mentoring and developing student teachers and/or beginning teachers and understanding their needs.

The skillsets and experience we are looking for are:

• proven excellence in teaching across the primary curriculum at a variety of year levels
• knowledge and demonstration of the Aotearoa New Zealand Teaching Council Code and Standards and the Aotearoa New Zealand refreshed curriculum
• commitment to mentoring students and providing an appropriate level of pastoral care
• experience engaging with Māori and Pacific communities and incorporating culturally sustaining approaches that support belonging and learner success would be advantageous
• experience and exposure to e-Learning pedagogies and technologies
• active involvement in a local Christian community of faith and in Christian initiatives in the wider community
• competence in reo me ōna tikanga Māori or commitment to developing competence
• a postgraduate qualification and active research plan would be advantageous and/or a demonstrated commitment to professional growth.

The salary package for this role includes 5 weeks annual leave and an annual professional development allowance.
