Job summary

EIT Hawke's Bay Campus is seeking a permanent part-time Lecturer for the Bachelor of Teaching, Early Childhood Education (BTECE). The role is pro-rated to 0.5 FTE with a salary between $84,793 and $89,639 per annum.

You will deliver high-quality teaching, develop curriculum, and support student engagement in a blended delivery environment. Qualifications include an ECE qualification and experience in tertiary teaching.

Qualifications

  • Recent experience in Early Childhood Education teaching practice.
  • Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of contemporary ECE teaching approaches and methodologies.
  • Experience teaching, mentoring or supporting adult learners.
  • Confidence using educational technologies and learning management systems to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with diverse learners and colleagues.
  • Commitment to culturally responsive teaching practice and Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality teaching across the Bachelor of Teaching, ECE programme.
  • Prepare, review and update curriculum and course content for relevance and quality.
  • Develop learning materials and resources to support student achievement.
  • Facilitate learning through face-to-face and blended delivery.
  • Assess student performance and provide timely feedback on outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate student records and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Support student wellbeing, progression and success through pastoral care and referrals.
  • Participate in moderation, evaluation and continuous improvement of the programme.
  • Build positive relationships with colleagues, student support teams and stakeholders.
  • Contribute to programme development and school initiatives.

We are seeking a permanent part-time (0.5 FTE) Lecturer – Bachelor of Teaching, Early Childhood Education (BTECE) to join EIT at the Hawke's Bay Campus.

The appointing salary for this role will be between $84,793 and $89,639 per annum, pro-rated to 0.5 FTE, dependent on skills and experience.

The Lecturer – Bachelor of Teaching, Early Childhood Education is based in our School of Education, Social Sciences and Vet Nursing | Te Kura Kaupapa Mātauranga, Pāpori me te Whare Tiaki Kararehe, reporting to the Head of School and will be responsible for:

  • Delivering high-quality teaching and learning across the Bachelor of Teaching, Early Childhood Education programme.
  • Preparing, reviewing and updating curriculum and course content to ensure relevance and academic quality.
  • Developing learning materials and resources that support student achievement and engagement.
  • Facilitating learning through a variety of teaching approaches, including face-to-face and blended delivery.
  • Assessing student performance and providing timely, constructive feedback on learning outcomes.
  • Maintaining accurate student records and ensuring compliance with academic regulations and processes.
  • Supporting student wellbeing, progression and success through effective pastoral care and referral practices.
  • Participating in moderation, evaluation and continuous improvement activities to maintain programme quality.
  • Building and maintaining positive working relationships with colleagues, student support teams and key stakeholders.
  • Contributing to programme development, promotional activities, professional practice and school initiatives.
To be successful in this role you will have:
  • Recent experience in Early Childhood Education teaching practice.
  • Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of contemporary ECE teaching approaches and methodologies.
  • A recognised qualification in Early Childhood Education or a related discipline.
  • Experience teaching, mentoring or supporting adult learners.
  • Confidence using educational technologies and learning management systems to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with diverse learners and colleagues.
  • A commitment to culturally responsive teaching practice and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
  • Tertiary teaching experience and curriculum development experience would be highly desirable.
