Job description
Overview

Pokeno School is seeking a dedicated and experienced teacher to join our team in 2026 as our new learning support coordinator (LSC). This is a full-time, fully released position for a registered teacher with a current practising certificate.

The LSC will play a key role in supporting inclusive practice across the school, working closely alongside our SENCo, staff, whānau, and external agencies to ensure students with additional learning needs are supported to thrive.

Primary and intermediate (Years 1–8) / kura tuatahi, Certificated teacher; English, Health and physical education, Learning languages, Mathematics and statistics, Science, Social sciences, Technology, Te reo Māori, The arts.

Responsibilities
  • Building teacher capability to meet diverse learning needs
  • Supporting students to access the right help early and make successful transitions
  • Partnering with whānau to strengthen learning support pathways
  • Coordinating with external agencies to provide timely resources and interventions
  • Analysing data to inform practice and improve outcomes for priority learners
  • Contributing to school-wide strategies that foster inclusive learning environments
Qualifications and attributes

We seek an applicant with strong communication, organisational and relationship-building skills, a commitment to inclusive and culturally responsive practice, and an understanding of Te Ao Māori and Tikanga Māori.

This role is not suitable for overseas teachers with no New Zealand teaching experience.
