Job summary

WSP NZ is seeking a Digital Engineering Lead for Water to drive digital delivery across our national water projects, from modelling to design outputs. This role blends hands-on delivery with setting standards and guiding teams to lift quality and efficiency.

You will lead adoption of best practice modelling, BIM and ISO 19650-aligned processes, coach teams nationwide, and influence across the Water Leadership Team. A tertiary engineering qualification is preferred.

• Strong expertise in Civil 3D and/or Plant 3D.

We’re looking for a Digital Engineering Lead - Water to drive how we deliver water projects across Aotearoa. This is a pivotal role combining hands‑on project delivery with national influence‑shaping tools, standards, and ways of working to lift consistency, quality, and efficiency across our teams.

You’ll play a key role in advancing our digital delivery capability, leading the adoption of best‑practice modelling, BIM, and digital engineering tools while supporting project teams to deliver high‑quality outcomes for our clients.

About you:

• Extensive experience in digital engineering within infrastructure or water, including strong expertise in Civil 3D and/or Plant 3D
• Proven ability to lead and embed digital delivery standards, workflows, and quality practices across teams
• A hands‑on approach, with the ability to contribute directly to project delivery while coaching others
• Experience supporting or leading digital transformation initiatives within engineering environments
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence at both project and leadership level
• A passion for innovation and continuous improvement in digital delivery
• Tertiary qualification in Engineering (preferred) or equivalent industry experience

What you’ll do:

• Lead and support digital delivery across water projects, contributing to modelling, design, and technical outputs
• Establish and embed consistent modelling standards, workflows, and quality frameworks
• Act as a technical advisor to the Water Leadership Team on digital engineering practices
• Drive improvements in tools, systems, and processes to enhance efficiency and delivery outcomes
• Coach and uplift capability within project teams across the country
• Support the adoption and implementation of ISO 19650-aligned practices
• Contribute to strategic direction for digital engineering within the water sector
• Enhance client outcomes through high‑quality, reliable digital delivery
