Job summary

WSP NZ is seeking a Digital Engineering Lead - Water to drive digital delivery across our water projects in Aotearoa. You’ll combine hands-on project delivery with national influence to lift standards and efficiency.

You’ll lead modelling standards, BIM practices and ISO 19650-aligned approaches, coach teams nationwide, and partner with Water Leadership to shape the digital engineering strategy. This is a high-impact, multidisciplinary role across New Zealand.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in digital engineering within infrastructure or water.
• Experience leading digital delivery standards, workflows, and quality practices.
• Hands-on approach with ability to contribute to project delivery while coaching others.
• Experience supporting or leading digital transformation initiatives within engineering environments.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills at project and leadership levels.
• Passion for innovation and continuous improvement in digital delivery.
• Tertiary qualification in Engineering or equivalent industry experience.

• Support the adoption and implementation of ISO 19650‑aligned practices.
• Contribute to strategic direction for digital engineering within the water sector.

Digital Engineering Lead, Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington or Christchurch
We're looking for a Digital Engineering Lead - Water to drive how we deliver water projects across Aotearoa. This is a pivotal role combining hands‑on project delivery with national influence‑shaping tools, standards, and ways of working to lift consistency, quality, and efficiency across our teams.
You'll play a key role in advancing our digital delivery capability, leading the adoption of best practice modelling, BIM, and digital engineering tools while supporting project teams to deliver high‑quality outcomes for our clients.
About you:
+ Extensive experience in digital engineering within infrastructure or water, including strong expertise in Civil 3D and/or Plant 3D
+ Proven ability to lead and embed digital delivery standards, workflows, and quality practices across teams
+ A hands‑on approach, with the ability to contribute directly to project delivery while coaching others
+ Experience supporting or leading digital transformation initiatives within engineering environments
+ Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence at both project and leadership level
+ A passion for innovation and continuous improvement in digital delivery
+ Tertiary qualification in Engineering (preferred) or equivalent industry experience
