Job summary

Ao Tawhiti Unlimited Discovery Canterbury is seeking a Learning Advisor – Regraded to join our team in central Christchurch. This is a full-time fixed-term role running from 28 January 2027 to 15 December 2027 to cover long-term medical needs.

The successful kaiako will support students in Years 1–8 in a self-directed learning environment, drawing on our core values of whanaungatanga, kaha, aroha, whakaute and tiakitanga.

Qualifications

• Qualified teacher with NZ registration or equivalent.
• Experience working with diverse learners is advantageous.
• Ability to support students to self-direct their learning through their passions and interests.

Responsibilities

• Teach years 1–8 in a busy, flexible learning environment.
• Foster strong relational practice with students and staff.
• Collaborate with kaiako to support student learning pathways.

We are looking for an exceptional kaiako to join the Y1-6 part of our kura for 2027who has excellent relational practice and strong pedagogical knowledge. Experienceworking with children with a range of needs will be advantageous. The successful candidatewill be able to work in a busy, flexible learning environment and have an understanding of supporting students to self-direct their learning through their passions and interests.
