Job summary

Ventia is seeking a Leading Hand - Electrical Substations in Christchurch to supervise on-site crews and oversee construction, installation, maintenance, and testing of HV and LV substation equipment.

You will lead daily activities, ensure safety compliance, and coordinate project tasks while building strong client and subcontractor relationships in Canterbury.

Qualifications

• NZ Registered Electrician with HV/LV exposure.
• Full NZ Driver Licence required.
• Leadership experience supervising field crews.
• Strong focus on safety and quality.
• Ability to coordinate complex field works and outages.

Responsibilities

Join our growing Energy Networks & Renewables team in Christchurch as a Leading Hand - Electrical Substations. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll supervise field crews while delivering the construction, installation, maintenance, and testing of HV and LV electrical substation equipment.

About the Role

What We're Looking For

• NZ Registered Electrician (or eligible for registration).
• Minimum 2+ years' experience in HV and/or LV electrical network work following apprenticeship.
• Proven experience leading crews in construction, maintenance, or substation environments.
• Strong knowledge of electrical safety, isolations, testing, and maintenance practices.
• Full New Zealand Driver Licence.
• Commitment to safety, teamwork, and delivering high-quality outcomes.
