Job summary

Luxury Orthopaedic Beds in New Zealand's Waikato region seeks a Lead Web & Digital Designer to elevate our Shopify store. You’ll shape the look, user experience and product presentation for a premium retail brand recognized nationwide.

Working with the Founder, you’ll craft high-converting pages, create photography and video content, and run campaigns across Meta and Google. If you’re passionate about premium design, conversion optimization and growing a beloved NZ brand, this role is for you.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years' experience in web or digital design.
• Strong Shopify experience and e-commerce focus.
• Strong understanding of UX, mobile-first design and visual hierarchy.
• Excellent graphic design skills with typography and layout.
• Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud and video tools.
• Able to manage multiple projects in a small team.

As we continue to grow, we're looking for an exceptional Lead Web & Digital Designer to take our Shopify website to the next level.

Our website is the centre of our business. It is our showroom, our salesperson and our most important marketing asset. We're looking for someone who is passionate about continually improving the customer experience, creating world-class design and building one of New Zealand's best retail e-commerce websites.

Working directly alongside the Founder and Managing Director, you'll have the freedom to bring ideas to life, test new concepts and make a genuine impact on how our brand is presented across every customer touchpoint.

This role is ideal for someone who combines strong design ability with commercial thinking. You're equally comfortable improving a Shopify product page, creating premium photography, designing high-converting advertising campaigns or helping customers in our showroom. No two days are the same—and that's exactly how you like it.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week), with rostered Saturday work as part of the role.

What you'll do

• Take ownership of our Shopify website, continually improving its design, layout, imagery, customer journey and conversion performance.

• Create new landing pages, optimise existing pages, enhance product presentation and ensure every part of the website reflects our premium brand.

• Confidently work within Shopify, making day-to-day improvements to pages, collections, navigation, content and apps without relying on developers for routine website enhancements.

• Continually test, refine and improve the website to maximise customer engagement, trust and sales.

• Create premium photography, graphics and video content for our website, social media, digital advertising, showroom displays and promotional material.

• Develop high-performing creative campaigns across Meta, Google and other digital platforms—from concept through to execution.

• Work directly with the Founder to brainstorm, develop and execute new ideas that strengthen our brand and improve business performance.

• Maintain exceptional brand consistency across every customer touchpoint.

• Monitor design, e-commerce and digital marketing trends, bringing fresh ideas and innovation to the business.

• Help build a premium New Zealand brand that customers genuinely love and recommend.

About you

• 2-5 years' experience in web design, digital design, e-commerce or a similar creative role.

• Highly confident working within Shopify and genuinely passionate about creating exceptional e-commerce websites.

• Strong understanding of website design, user experience (UX), conversion optimisation, mobile-first design and visual hierarchy.

• Excellent graphic design skills with outstanding attention to typography, layout, imagery and detail.

• Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), and video editing software such as Premiere Pro or After Effects.

• Confident creating high-quality photography and video content using both professional equipment and your phone.

• Experience designing creative assets for Meta, Google, YouTube and other digital advertising platforms.

• Commercially minded—you understand that great design should also improve customer engagement and drive sales.

• Comfortable managing multiple projects while maintaining exceptional quality.

• Self-motivated, proactive and happy taking ownership of projects from concept through to completion.

• A strong communicator who enjoys collaboration, welcomes feedback and thrives in a small team environment.
