About the role

We are seeking 4 highly skilled Lead Technicians to provide expert support to our maintenance team at our APC site. These roles are ideal for trade-qualified maintenance engineers or experienced technicians with strong mechanical and electrical expertise and ideally people leadership experience.

Role

As a Lead Technician with us, you will play a critical role in maintaining and optimising our automated parcel sorting machinery, ensuring it operates reliably to meet our operational demands. You will take ownership of:

  • Planned, preventative, reactive and breakdown maintenance, ensuring all equipment is performing at peak efficiency.
  • Troubleshooting and fault diagnosis, quickly resolving technical issues to minimise downtime.
  • Providing technical leadership and mentoring, acting as the senior point of contact for a team of technicians, offering guidance and hands-on support.
  • Enhancing system performance, working with high-level control systems, automation, and programming where applicable.
About You

You are a trade-qualified or highly experienced maintenance engineer with a strong background in electrical and/or mechanical systems. You thrive in a fast-paced environment, enjoy problem-solving under pressure, and have a logical, solutions-focused mindset.

To Succeed In These Roles, You'll Need
  • A relevant trade qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • New Zealand Electrical Registration or Electrical Service Technician (EST) Registration with A & B papers OR a mechanical engineering qualification.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience as an electrical/mechanical technician in an industrial, automation, or logistics setting.
  • Expertise in control systems and programming (highly desirable).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex mechanical and electrical faults efficiently.
  • Leadership potential or experience, with the ability to mentor and support a team.
  • A positive, adaptable attitude and a commitment to operational excellence are essential, as this role is crucial in ensuring the smooth running of our depot's machinery.

It goes without saying but you'll also have a positive and flexible attitude and enjoy playing an important role in delivering what our customers care about.

Hours / Roster

These roles are part of our shift based teams in Wiri, working on our brand-new state of the art automated processing technology. Working at heights is part of the gig, and the teams operate on the Dupont shift pattern with one week off as part of the roster pattern. This is a 24/7 operation and we have a team of technicians on site at all times. Our Lead Technicians also work on the Dupont shift pattern.
