Job summary

Trade Assist in Auckland is seeking an experienced Workshop Supervisor to join its leadership team on a day shift. This hands-on role oversees a workshop of 15-20 staff, guiding production, safety, and quality across the operation.

You will lead from the front, coordinate daily workflow with other supervisors, provide technical guidance to fabrication and welding teams, and contribute to the team’s long-term leadership and succession planning within a collaborative culture.

Qualifications

• 5-10+ years' experience in steel fabrication and welding.
• Strong knowledge of structural steel fabrication.
• Previous supervisory, team leadership or senior workshop experience.
• Good understanding of workshop production environments.
• Strong communication and people leadership skills.
• Practical and solutions-focused approach.
• Ability to adapt and support the wider operation.
• Genuine interest in a long-term leadership opportunity.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support a team of approximately 15-20 workshop staff.
• Coordinate daily workflow and production requirements.
• Ensure safety, quality and productivity standards are maintained.
• Provide technical guidance and support to fabrication and welding teams.
• Work alongside other supervisors to resolve production challenges.
• Support different areas and teams across the wider operation when required.
• Coach and develop team members while maintaining a positive workshop culture.
• Lead by example with a practical, hands-on approach.
