Job summary

Oranga Tamariki—Ministry for Children Kaikohe site is seeking an experienced Supervisor of social workers to lead and support a team. You will work across areas with Iwi and government and non-government partners to support tamariki and whānau.

The role requires travel around the region, a clean driver’s licence, SWRB registration, and a focus on timely decisions, development of staff, and culturally responsive practice.

Qualifications

• Full, clean, valid driver’s licence.
• Full registration with NZ’s Social Work Registration Board (SWRB).
• A social worker qualification recognised by the SWRB.
• Previous people management and/or mentoring experience.
• Ability to build and lead an effective team and be a team player.
• Proactive approach prioritising tamariki in decisions and actions.
• Excellent time management and ability to manage competing demands.
• Knowledge of the Oranga Tamariki Act 1989 and cross-cultural practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead, support and supervise a team of social workers across key areas.
• Collaborate with Iwi and government and non-government partners.
• Travel around the region as required.
