Job summary

The Ministry of Social Development (MSD) is seeking a Senior Information Security Advisor to lead critical work supporting the Service for the Future programme. Wellington is the preferred location, with Auckland or Christchurch considered for the right candidate.

You will provide expert security guidance to protect sensitive information and support secure, effective public services in a collaborative IPS team.

Qualifications

Expert in information security with knowledge of PSR and NZISM.
Proven risk management, policy development and compliance assurance.
Ability to navigate complexity and ambiguity with flexible delivery.
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Experience in large, public sector environments is an advantage.

Responsibilities

Provide expert security advice on the Ministry's systems, practices and new initiatives including C&A assessments.
Collaborate with information management and privacy colleagues to identify and mitigate information risks.
Design and lead risk-based information assurance activities aligned with national security requirements.
Develop and lead training and guidance materials to foster information responsibility.
Build strong internal and external relationships, including cross-agency collaboration.
Lead assurance reporting and provide data-informed recommendations to improve security maturity.
