Job summary

Green by Nature in Rotorua is seeking a skilled horticulture professional to lead daily grounds maintenance for retirement village projects, directing a crew and ensuring high standards.

The ideal candidate holds a Level 4 National Certificate in Horticulture, GrowSafe certification, a full manual driver’s licence, and 3+ years of experience; you will follow garden plans, source plants, and liaise with management.

Qualifications

• Must have a Level 4 National Certificate in Horticulture.
• GrowSafe certification is required.
• At least 3 years of experience in a similar role.
• Full driver’s licence with ability to drive a manual vehicle.
• Ability to follow garden plans and maintain plant species.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily grounds maintenance, ensuring lawns, gardens, hedges, and communal outdoor areas are kept to a high standard.
• Plan garden rotations, direct and support staff, weed control, pruning, planting, fertilising, mowing and lawn renovations.
• Create and maintain gardens per client specs, source plants and materials, follow plans, and plant per best practices.
• Manage day-to-day operations of designated sites.
• Communicate with Operations/Team Manager and clients; promptly address garden issues.
• Prioritise safety, compliance and quality in all garden activities.
