Job summary

Recruit I.T. in Auckland is seeking a Lead Consultant with deep Snowflake expertise to architect and deliver modern data platforms for a range of clients. You will run discovery workshops, guide architecture decisions and mentor a growing team while acting as a trusted advisor on data strategy.

The role is client-facing and hands-on, requiring strong communication, governance and SDLC practices. You’ll collaborate with sales, management and technology partners to shape delivery and client

Qualifications

• Deep Snowflake architecture and production data platform delivery.
• Strong SQL with ELT/ETL tooling and Spark notebooks.
• Solid dimensional and star-schema data modelling.
• Cloud experience on Azure and/or AWS.
• Exposure to Microsoft Fabric or Databricks (advantageous).
• Power BI or similar for KPI storytelling.

Responsibilities

• Lead discovery workshops and client workshops to define data value opportunities.
• Architect and deliver Snowflake-based data platforms and analytics solutions.
• Own end-to-end delivery including design, development and testing.
• Lead and mentor a team of developers and consultants.
• Support pre-sales with demonstrations, scoping and task definition.
• Contribute to R&D and delivery process improvements.
• Represent the practice in client engagements and with partners.

Lead Snowflake-centred data platform and analytics projects for a respected NZ technology consultancy. Run discovery workshops, architect modern data solutions, mentor a growing team and be the trusted advisor guiding clients through their data journey.

About the Role

Our client is a well-established New Zealand technology consultancy with a growing Data & Insights practice. They want a Lead Consultant with deep Snowflake expertise to take ownership of the architecture, design and delivery of modern data platforms for a range of customers. The role is client-facing and hands-on, and you’ll help shape where the practice goes next.

• Partner with clients to understand their business goals and develop tailored data and analytics strategies
• Lead discovery and assessment workshops to uncover where data can add value
• Own the analysis, architecture, design, development and delivery of Snowflake‑based data platform and analytics solutions
• Lead and work alongside a team of developers to deliver projects on time, on budget and to a high standard
• Support pre‑sales, including demonstrations, scoping and defining project tasks
• Coach and mentor junior members of the practice
• Contribute to R&D, capability building and continuous improvement of delivery processes
• Report to the Data & Insights Practice Lead and work closely with sales, management and technology partners

Experience and Qualifications

• Strong hands‑on experience with Snowflake: architecture, data modelling and delivering production data platforms
• Advanced SQL plus ELT/ETL tooling and Spark notebooks
• Solid data modelling skills, especially dimensional and star‑schema design
• Cloud platform experience (Azure and/or AWS)
• Exposure to Microsoft Fabric or Databricks (advantageous)
• Power BI or similar, with a good understanding of KPIs, dashboards and telling stories with data
• An understanding of data governance, lineage and metadata management
• Strong SDLC practices, including source control, branching strategies and CI/CD (Azure DevOps, GitHub)
• Consulting experience, with confidence running workshops and acting as a trusted advisor to clients
• Excellent communication, documentation and stakeholder skills, and good commercial awareness
• Experience mentoring or leading technical teams
