Job summary

MOTAT is seeking a hands-on gardener to join our Landscape Team as a part-time Landscape Team Member. You’ll tackle mowing lawns, weeding, planting, trimming and general grounds maintenance to keep our outdoor spaces tidy and welcoming for visitors at our Auckland sites.

The role is permanent and 20 hours per week, Friday to Sunday, with some flexibility. A full driver’s license, gardening experience and basic plant knowledge are required; a weed spraying certificate is an advantage.

Qualifications

• Experience in gardening or landscape maintenance.
• Knowledge of basic gardening, plants and equipment.
• Confidence using tools and machinery, including a weed eater (desirable).
• A full driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Mow lawns and perform lawn maintenance.
• Weed, prune and plant as required.
• Trim and maintain borders and planting beds.
• Carry out general grounds maintenance and cleanliness.

Job description

MOTAT is an interactive museum with beautiful outdoor spaces across two sites. We’re looking for a hands on gardener to take on our Landscape Team Member role and help keep our grounds tidy, safe and looking great for our visitors.

Working alongside our Landscape Team, you’ll be responsible for everyday gardening tasks, including mowing lawns, weeding, planting, trimming and general grounds maintenance. You’ll also help maintain equipment and ensure our outdoor spaces are well presented.

What we’re looking for:

• Experience gardening or landscape maintenance experience.
• Knowledge of basic gardening, plants and equipment.
• Confidence using tools and machinery, including a commercial weed eater (desirable)
• A full driver’s licence.
• Someone who enjoys working outdoors, is physically fit and can work independently.

A weed spraying certificate would be an advantage but isn’t essential.
