Job summary

Blokhaus in Wellington is seeking reliable Construction Skilled Labourers to join our busy team. You will gain hands‑on experience across commercial, residential, and civil sites, supporting trades and keeping projects moving safely and efficiently.

You will assist with daily tasks, operate basic tools, and help with site setup, material movement, and surface preparation. A strong work ethic and reliability are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience on construction or civil sites.
• Must hold a valid Class 1 Driver’s License and have reliable transport.
• Must have own standard PPE (steel cap boots, hi‑vis vest/shirt, hard hat, safety glasses, gloves).
• Site Safe or ConstructSafe preferred or willing to obtain.
• Physically fit and capable of heavy lifting and manual labor.

Responsibilities

• Assist trades on-site with daily construction tasks.
• Operate basic power tools, hand tools and site equipment safely.
• Assist with steel fixing, tying rebar, and mesh placement (experience a plus).
• Site setup, cleanup and maintaining a safe, tidy work area.
• Move, load and unload construction materials around site.
• Support trenching, excavation prep and surface preparation for concrete/build phases.
• Follow all health and safety guidelines.

What You'll Be Doing

• Assisting various tradespeople on-site with daily construction and preparation tasks

• Operating basic power tools, hand tools, and site equipment safely

• Assisting with basic steel fixing, tying rebar, and placing mesh (experience is a strong plus!)

• Site setup, cleanup, and ensuring a safe, tidy work environment at all times

• Moving, loading, and unloading construction materials around site

• Digging trenches, site excavation support, and preparing surfaces for concrete or build phases

• Following all health and safety guidelines to ensure a secure working environment

What We’re Looking For

• Minimum 1 year of experience working on construction or civil sites

• Must hold a valid Class 1 Driver’s License (mandatory) and reliable transport

• Must have your own standard PPE (Steel cap boots, Hi-Vis vest/shirt, hard hat, safety glasses, gloves)

• Previous experience in construction highly preferred.

• Physically fit and capable of handling heavy lifting and manual labor

• High level of reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic

• Ability to follow instructions clearly and work well within a team environment

• Site Safe card or ConstructSafe qualification is preferred (or willing to obtain)
