Job summary

Kerry is seeking a Laboratory Technician at Otahuhu, Auckland, New Zealand. The role focuses on delivering accurate testing across finished products, in-process materials, and raw materials while supporting continual improvement in the lab environment.

The successful candidate will have a tertiary degree in a related field, strong GLP/GMP knowledge, and the ability to manage multiple tests and data systems such as SAP and Intelex.

Qualifications

• A tertiary qualification in Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
• Practical knowledge of laboratory testing, GLP, HACCP, GMP, and food safety principles.
• Understanding of food safety management systems (e.g., FSSC 22000) and regulatory requirements.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to interpret results against specs.
• Good organisational skills to manage priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with SAP, Intelex, or LIS is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Conduct finished product, in-process, raw material, water, and end-of-shelf-life testing in accordance with approved methods, specifications, and schedules.
• Produce test results in a timely manner to support release of compliant materials and products.
• Identify, document, and escalate non-conformances, and support investigations.
• Manage laboratory samples to maintain identification, traceability, storage, and disposal.
• Complete equipment calibration, verification, and routine checks, and maintain records.
• Perform environmental monitoring and hygiene swabbing in line with site procedures.
• Coordinate testing with external laboratories, including sample submission and follow-up.
• Maintain quality data in Intelex, SAP, and other systems.
• Support audits and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
