Tradestaff Dunedin is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join SGS Golden Point, Macraes. You will support testing and sample preparation in a busy mining laboratory, with a 7‑on, 7‑off roster and 12‑hour shifts, including potential night work.

The role suits hands-on, reliable individuals who are safety‑conscious and eager to learn laboratory processes, with weekly pay and PPE provided.

Qualifications

• NZ driver’s licence is required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, label and handle samples for testing.
• Conduct routine lab tests and assist senior technicians.

• Maintain a clean and safe lab environment in a mining setting.

Laboratory Technician

Tradestaff Dunedin is looking for a hardworking and reliable Laboratory Technician to join the team at SGS Golden Point, Macraes. This is a great opportunity for someone with a positive attitude, strong work ethic and an interest in the mining industry.

You’ll be working in a busy laboratory environment, supporting testing and sample preparation operations. With a 7 days on, 7 days off roster, 12‑hour shifts and the possibility of night shifts, this role would suit someone who enjoys hands‑on work and is comfortable with longer working days.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Preparing, labelling and handling samples for laboratory testing and analysis
• Conducting routine laboratory tests and assisting senior technicians
• Recording results accurately and following laboratory procedures
• Operating, cleaning and maintaining laboratory equipment
• Safely handling, storing and disposing of laboratory samples and materials
• Keeping laboratory work areas clean, organised and safe
• Following strict health and safety procedures in a mining environment

What We’re Looking For:

• A great attitude, reliability and a strong work ethic
• Full NZ driver’s licence – essential
• Forklift endorsement advantageous but not essential
• Physically fit and capable of regular heavy lifting
• Comfortable working 12‑hour shifts on a 7 days on, 7 days off roster, including potential night shifts
• Strong teamwork skills and a commitment to health and safety
• Genuine interest in the mining industry and willingness to learn laboratory processes
