Descrizione del lavoro

At Orion, we're proud to be powering a cleaner and brighter future with our community. Behind the scenes, having the right information, in the right place, at the right time is essential to how we work. We're looking for an experienced Knowledge Management Lead (2-year fixed-term) who can roll up their sleeves and help transform how information is stored, organised and shared across Orion. The technical groundwork is already underway, but now comes the important part, working with our people to put consistent, practical ways of managing information into place. You'll spend time understanding how different teams operate, identifying what's working and what isn't, and helping people adopt new approaches that make information easier to find, use and trust.

About us

Passionate, curious, and innovative are a few words that describe our people. We are powering the future, connecting communities, and igniting innovation. Orion owns and operates the electricity distribution network that provides power to central Canterbury. As the third largest electricity distribution network in New Zealand, we cover remote rural areas, regional towns, and the city of Christchurch. We are an essential service and take our responsibilities seriously. We are community owned and working here means a career with meaning and purpose that makes a difference in your very own neighbourhood.

The role

This isn't simply about developing policies or introducing new systems. It's about bringing people on the journey, understanding how different teams work and helping them adopt better ways of managing information. Working closely with teams across Orion and our Digital and Technology team, you'll develop and embed a knowledge management framework that supports our people, strengthens information governance and makes knowledge more accessible across the organisation.

  • Lead the hands-on implementation of Orion's knowledge management framework across the business
  • Work closely with teams across Orion, you'll turn our knowledge management framework into practical ways of working, helping people understand what needs to change, why it matters and how to make it happen
  • Help teams establish practical document structures, naming conventions and consistent ways of working
  • Build relationships with people across the business, identifying champions and coaching teams through changes
  • Partner with our Digital, Data and Technology team to ensure systems and processes work together and meet business needs
  • Drive the adoption of new practices, following through to ensure changes are understood, embedded and sustained
About you

We're looking for someone who has been on this journey before and understands that successful knowledge management is as much about people as it is about processes and technology. You'll be confident engaging with people at all levels, asking the right questions and challenging existing ways of working when needed.

  • Proven experience successfully implementing knowledge or document management practices across an organisation, taking them from planning through to everyday use
  • A track record of working directly with teams to change established processes, overcome resistance and embed new ways of working
  • Strong change management and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and bring people along on the journey
  • A practical understanding of Microsoft 365 platforms, including SharePoint and Teams, and how information is structured and managed
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand existing processes and identify workable improvements
  • A confident, approachable communication style, with the ability to coach others, build relationships and drive meaningful change
  • Proactive, organised and comfortable taking ownership, with the ability to balance good governance with practical, workable solutions
We offer

You will be joining a workplace that values who you are, the work you do, and the way you think.

  • Flexible working arrangements, and flexible locations with our Head office in Burnside and satellite offices in Rolleston and Ferrymead
  • Five extra days of leave a year - three days of “My Days” leave and two “Orion Days” between Christmas and New Year
  • A broad range of workplace benefits from a wellbeing allowance to access to our holiday house in Hanmer! You might be surprised to find out that the company that brings the power to your home is innovative, inclusive, progressive, and quite good fun.

You must have the right to live and work in New Zealand to apply for this job. Pre-employment checks are part of our recruitment process.
