Job summary

Summerset Retirement Villages in Katikati, Bay of Plenty, NZ, is seeking a casual Kitchen Assistant to support our kitchen team. You will help with food prep, dishwashing, and keeping the kitchen clean and well-organised to ensure residents and visitors enjoy nutritious meals.

Ideal candidates have hospitality experience, a friendly attitude, good communication, and the stamina to work in a fast-paced kitchen. This is a casual, on-site position with flexible hours and team-based support.

Qualifications

• Previous work experience ideally within hospitality
• Friendly, can-do attitude and great communication skills
• Good physical stamina and the ability to work in a busy kitchen
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Responsibilities

• Assisting with basic food preparation such as peeling, chopping and portioning
• Helping with plating and presentation of meals
• Operating dishwashers and ensuring all kitchenware is properly sanitised
• Keeping kitchen areas clean, organised, and compliant
• Helping to receive, unpack and store deliveries, including stock rotation

Job Description:

As a casual Kitchen Assistant for our Summerset by the Sea Village you’ll be at the heart of our kitchen’s day-to-day operations. Your support will help ensure our chefs can deliver nutritious, high-quality meals to our residents and visitors. From assisting with food prep to keeping the kitchen clean and organised, you’ll make a big difference behind the scenes – and you’ll be appreciated for it.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Assisting with basic food preparation such as peeling, chopping and portioning
• Helping with plating and presentation of meals
• Operating dishwashers and ensuring all kitchenware is properly sanitised
• Keeping kitchen areas clean, organised, and compliant
• Helping to receive, unpack and store deliveries, including stock rotation

This is a casual role offering hours on an as needed basis.
