Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora’s Ashburton Hospital WellFood Department is seeking a Kitchen Assistant on a fixed-term basis from 15 May 2026 to 10 January 2027 to cover annual and sick leave.

You will carry out general kitchen duties, clean, and provide friendly service to patients and whānau. Duties include tray-lining meals, collecting trays, and helping close the café. Must be reliable, flexible, and available 7am–7pm, Monday to Sunday.

Qualifications

• Experience in a kitchen environment is advantageous.
• Reliable, hardworking and flexible candidate who can work across shifts.
• Willing to contribute to WellFood Department operations.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out general kitchen and cleaning duties including washing dishes.
• Providing great customer service to patients and whānau.
• Tray-linedishing up of meals and desserts.
• Collecting meal trays from patients.
• Closing the caf.

Starting rate $28.63 per hour. Based on the E tū Service andFood Workers collective agreement
