Job summary

Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora - Waitaha Canterbury Ashburton Hospital is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to join the WellFood Department. The role covers the Ashburton site with a fixed-term period to support annual and sick leave cover and requires availability across 7am–7pm, Monday to Sunday.

The position offers a starting rate of 28.63 NZD per hour under the E tū Service and Food Workers collective agreement.

Qualifications

• Reliable, hardworking and flexible candidate for kitchen roles.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
• Willingness to work weekends and public holidays if required.

Responsibilities

• Carry out general kitchen and cleaning duties, including washing dishes.
• Provide great customer service to patients and their whānau.
• Tray line and dish up of meals and desserts.
• Collect meal trays from patients.
• Close the cafe when required.
