Te Kura - The Correspondence School in New Plymouth is seeking a dedicated kaiako (Teacher) for Primary years 1–6 to cover a fixed-term role in 2027. Based in our New Plymouth office, you will connect with āko, provide tailored instruction online and in person, and support students to reach their goals.

You will hold NZ teacher registration, bring a calm, inclusive approach, and be comfortable using digital tools to engage learners.

Qualifications

  • New Zealand teacher registration and a current practising certificate.
  • Strong knowledge of the Primary curriculum and assessment practices.
  • Calm, inclusive, and supportive approach to teaching and pastoral care.
  • Confidence using digital tools to connect with learners.

Responsibilities

  • Support ākonga to engage deeply in learning aligned with their goals, passions and interests.
  • Teach year levels 1 to 6.
  • Facilitate regular huinga ako (online and face-to-face) for pastoral care and connection.
  • Provide constructive feedback and feedforward on learning.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and whānau to create flexible, engaging learning experiences.
