North East Valley Normal School seeks a highly motivated practitioner to join our junior team as a Y1–2 classroom teacher. We seek a team player who enjoys working in a collaborative and forward-thinking team. Building and maintaining relationships with whānau, ākonga, and staff is essential. Strong collaborative, organisational, and interpersonal skills, an excellent work ethic and a sense of humour are required to fulfil this position. We are a community-focused kura with many layers within our school that make us unique to Ōtepoti.

  • Strong teaching and learning pedagogy across the curriculum, including assessment practices
  • Brings a varied background of experience and expertise to add depth to our team
  • Thrives in a culture of reflection, feedback and continuous improvement
  • Demonstrates cultural responsiveness, a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the ability to promote te reo Māori within the classroom and across the kura

  • Proven ability to develop approaches that meet the needs of all learners.
  • Understand the role of being a teacher within a Normal School.
