Job summary

Hikutaia School is seeking an enthusiastic Year 1 teacher to join our supportive junior team on a permanent Scale A contract starting Term 1 2027.

We are looking for an educator who builds strong relationships with students, whānau and colleagues, and who models our school values daily. The role highlights te reo Māori and Mathematics, with experience or interest in Structured Literacy and junior classroom pedagogy.

Qualifications

• Focus on building strong relationships with students, whānau and staff.
• Emphasis on te reo Māori and Mathematics in early learning.
• Interest or experience in Structured Literacy and junior pedagogy.

Responsibilities

• Teach English, Mathematics and statistics, Te reo Māori to Year 1.
• Collaborate with junior team to support learner progress.
• Model school values and foster inclusive, positive classroom culture.

About the role
