Job description

At Contact, we believe home is the most important place in the world. That belief shapes everything we do, from leading the energy transition to how we power Aotearoa and care for our people and communities.

We’re a power, broadband, and mobile company, but we’re also investing boldly in renewable energy and smarter, more connected ways of working ( mahi ). Our ambition is simple: to leave Aotearoa better than we found it.

New Zealand's energy future is being shaped right now.

As the country moves toward a lower‑carbon future, some of the largest and most significant infrastructure investments in generations are moving from idea to reality. From renewable generation and strategic growth projects to major transformation initiatives, these decisions will help shape how New Zealand is powered for decades to come, and investment sits at the centre of that journey. Working closely with leaders across the business, our Investment Analysis gurus help evaluate opportunities, allocate capital, and support investment decisions that balance long-term value, affordability, risk, and growth.

Job Description

This is an opportunity to help influence where investment goes next.

Based in either Auckland or Wellington, you’ll join a highly visible team that works across some of Contact’s most important strategic and investment decisions, partnering with stakeholders across the business to assess opportunities, build investment cases, provide commercial insights, and support decisions at Executive and Board level.

You’ll contribute to a wide range of work, including:

  • Developing and maintaining financial and commercial models
  • Evaluating investment opportunities and strategic initiatives
  • Supporting capital allocation and portfolio prioritisation decisions
  • Providing analysis and recommendations that inform business cases and investment approvals
  • Partnering with leaders across Finance and the wider business to challenge assumptions and improve decision quality
  • Contributing to strategic planning and long‑term value creation activities

This is a role for someone who enjoys understanding both the detail and the bigger picture. The work is varied, complex, and genuinely impactful.

Qualifications
Kowaikoe| About You

You enjoy solving complex problems and helping people make better decisions.

You may currently be working in corporate finance, investments, consulting, infrastructure, banking, transaction services, strategic finance, or a similar commercial environment. What matters most is your ability to turn information into insight and communicate it in a way that influences decisions.

We'd love to see:
  • Experience in financial modelling, investment analysis, valuation, corporate finance, or a related discipline
  • Strong analytical capability and commercial judgement
  • The ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and confidently
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities
Nice-to-haves:
  • Experience within infrastructure, energy, utilities, banking, or other capital‑intensive industries
  • Exposure to strategic planning, investment appraisal, or capital allocation processes
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or professional finance credentials
  • Project finance experience is a plus, but not essential.

Just as importantly, you’ll bring curiosity, sound judgement, a collaborative approach, and a genuine interest in understanding how great investment decisions are made.

If you’re excited by the opportunity but don’t meet every requirement, we’d still encourage you to apply.

Additional Information

Few organisations have the opportunity, ambition, and scale of investment that Contact has today.

This is a permanent opportunity based in Auckland or Wellington, with flexible ways of working and the opportunity to grow your commercial, strategic, and leadership capability alongside experienced and supportive colleagues. (You might have seen we also have a fixed‑term Investment Analysis Specialist opportunity available, which is more focused on project financing – you can learn more about that role & apply here. )
