Job summary

New Zealand Government in Auckland/Wellington is seeking an Investigator to join the Health and Disability Commissioner (HDC) investigations team. You will assess whether there has been a breach of the Code and identify opportunities for service improvement, providing clear, practical recommendations.

The role is full-time with a flexible hybrid arrangement and a focus on robust, high-quality casework. Applicants should have a background in investigations, strong written and oral communication,

• Ability to convey complex information accurately in clear and simple language
• Proven ability to manage a heavy caseload, producing high-quality work and meeting deadlines consistently
• Initiative and professionalism
• An awareness of the systemic barriers experienced by disabled people in the health and disability system
• Sensitivity to the values of other cultural and ethnic groups
• An understanding of, or experience in, the health and disability sector or the ability to obtain such an understanding

As New Zealand's health watchdog, the Commissioner is involved in a wide spectrum of health concerns to ensure accountability in the healthcare system and promote high standards of care.

About this role

We have an exciting opportunity for an Investigator with strong analytical, communication and resolution skills to join our professional, friendly and supportive organisation. This is a full-time position within the Investigations Team. The principal role of the Investigator is to assist the Commissioner to determine whether there has been a breach of the Code. The Investigator will identify whether there are areas for service improvement and, if so, suggest appropriate recommendations for change.

Salary range

As part of our remuneration framework the base salary range for the position is from $66,259 to $82,824. Note : KiwiSaver / employer contribution is in additional to your base salary.
