Overview

Responsibilities
  • Build strong connections with the operations team and other departments to keep inventory flowing smoothly throughout all warehouse activities.
  • Maintain exceptional stock accuracy by conducting regular cycle counts, investigating any discrepancies, and reporting issues that could affect inventory integrity.
  • Support strategies that minimise stock holding while maximising system accuracy, always striving for best practices in inventory control.
  • Engage warmly with external stakeholders—including suppliers, customers, volunteers, and contractors—to deliver outstanding service and uphold the organisation’s values.
  • Drive continuous improvement within warehouse inventory processes by identifying opportunities for enhancement and collaborating on solutions.
  • Oversee all inbound receipting activities such as labelling pallets, completing schedules, and handing over products to the warehouse team for further processing.
  • Conduct regular stocktakes—daily, weekly, quarterly or yearly as needed—and work closely with managers to resolve any disturbances or lost product.
  • Keep meticulous records of packaging items and provide timely updates on stock levels to management while ensuring all data is accurately entered into business systems.
  • Cross-train in other operational areas like planning, transport booking, allocation, and volunteer repacking support to ensure seamless workflow during busy periods or emergencies.
  • Play an active role in promoting health and safety culture by supporting policy development, hazard identification, incident investigation, and ensuring full compliance with Food Safety Act requirements.
What you will bring
  • At least two years’ experience working within a warehouse environment handling inventory control processes including receipting and stocktaking duties.
  • Proven ability to use Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) or similar electronic software for managing business functions related to inventory tracking.
  • Strong organisational skills enabling you to multi-task effectively while handling ambiguity or shifting priorities within busy operational settings.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills allowing you to interact considerately with colleagues at all levels as well as external stakeholders such as suppliers or volunteers.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Health & Safety protocols along with practical knowledge of Food Safety Act requirements relevant to warehousing environments.
  • Experience operating manual handling equipment safely (forklift qualification preferred but not essential), plus confidence working in chilled environments using appropriate PPE.
  • Ability to maintain accurate documentation for inbound receipts, outbound dispatches, inventory records, audits of picked orders or packaging items.
  • Experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives within warehouse settings by identifying process enhancements or participating in cross-training activities.
  • Capability to lift cartons weighing 15-20kg safely as part of daily operational tasks without compromising personal well being or workplace safety standards.
  • Commitment to upholding positive relationships built on respectfulness—both internally among teams and externally with community partners.
