Job summary

Bank of New Zealand in Auckland is seeking an experienced Internal Audit Manager to lead audits from planning through reporting and deliver practical recommendations that strengthen controls and risk management across the bank.

You will build relationships with stakeholders, guide audit teams in a fast-paced, agile environment, and contribute to continuous improvement while supporting BNZ’s wellbeing and development culture.

Qualifications

• At least three years’ experience in Internal Audit.
• Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, supported by a sound risk mindset.
• A collaborative approach and the confidence to give and receive constructive feedback.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organisation.
• Clear, confident communication skills and the ability to influence without authority.
• Flexibility and confidence working in an agile, fast-paced and changing environment.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, process-compliant audits that reflect the wider business environment.
• Conduct walkthroughs and control testing, drawing clear, well-supported conclusions on time and to a high standard.
• Produce high-quality workpapers that provide a strong foundation for audit outcomes.
• Build trusted relationships and communicate effectively with stakeholders across the business.
• Write clear, insightful reports and, where appropriate, lead teams on audit assignments.
• Contribute to the Audit function’s continuous improvement programme.
