Job description

Since its inception in the mid 2000's, the company has undertaken a diverse array of projects. These include large-scale commercial, residential, and industrial developments, as well as infrastructure and natural resource projects. Additionally, the company handles smaller, one-off projects like subdivisions and earthworks consents. They offer flexible working options, and opportunities for career advancement and development in the different planning fields. This role will be crucial for relieving the workload from senior and associates to focus more on business development. The ideal applicant will be able to work autonomously and be comfortable taking increased responsibility on small projects both locally and across NZ. The role necessitates being in, or open to moving to the Queenstown area.

You will

  • Have extensive knowledge of resource management planning in New Zealand along with a planning and/or resource management degree.
  • Hold or be eligible for New Zealand Planning Institute membership.
  • Have a minimum of 2 years of experience in the resource management planning sector.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills along with an ability to communicate effectively with relevant stake holders.

The role

As an intermediate planner, you will play a critical role in contributing to the ongoing development of projects in the region. The successful candidate will be assisted in progressing their career i providing a large potential to develop or exercise leadership abilities. Excelling in this position demands a high level of interpersonal abilities and the capability to establish and sustain favourable connections with clients and co-workers.

  • Prepare and assist in resource consent applications and liaise with regional and local authority representatives.
  • Lead and work on local projects along with working on projects around the country on behalf of other offices.
  • Encouraged to work on projects in a variety of aspects of the planning industry to diversify your skills.
  • Work alongside experienced senior and associate planners.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide planning, environmental and land development consultancy services.
  • Assisting local councils in acquiring and processing resource consents when required.
  • Policy development on a range of projects that require flexibility and an in-depth knowledge of RMA.
  • Managing the different stages associated with planning projects.
  • Creating and maintaining honest genuine relationships with clients and stakeholders.
